Technological Management Enterprise

The advanced study course TECHNOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT ENTERPRISE (TME) will lead to a 3rd. cycle Bologna Diploma jointly awarded by three Portuguese Universities: Universidade Técnica de Lisboa – Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade do Porto – Faculdade de Engenharia (FEUP) e Universidade do Minho – Escola de Engenharia (UMinho).
The course was developed with the support of the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in the framework of the Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing (EDAM) focus area of the Portugal – MIT Program.
The course comprises a curricular component and the elaboration of an industrial oriented thesis.
Lectures and thesis orientation will be assured by professors and researchers from MIT (Engineering Systems Division), UMinho, FEUP and IST.

Objectives

To promote familiarity and critical understanding of the potentialities of the Operational Research methodology and the systems approach in formulating and solving decision problems in engineering. To develop capabilities for systems modeling, including factors such as uncertainty and risk, with the purpose of quantitatively assessing alternatives and optimizing solutions. To develop an informed understanding of Operational Research methods and tools particularly useful in searching for optimal/improved solutions and skills to apply them in solving complex decision problems in engineering.
